Frequently Asked Questions.

Important things that you may need to know about my style, the process and how I do my thing.

Can you do bespoke photography packages?

ABSOLUTELY. If you want to chop and change your photography package that’s absolutely fine. There are just two things to keep in mind. Firstly, all packages are continuous coverage. Just as an example, I won’t photograph just the preparations and come back for the first dance. Secondly, the peak/off-peak rules apply.

One of my most popular bespoke packages is when couples do not need the hours at the beginning of the day for preparations. I just take those hours off the price to suit them.

Off-peak and Peak. What’s the difference?

Peak runs from May 1st to October 31st. As a wedding photographer I am extremely busy during this time. This means that the minimum package available is my Diamond package (or equivalent) from Thursday to Sunday’s. That being said, exceptions are made for last minute bookings.

If you are booking last minute (within 6-months of your wedding day) then still please reach out, I may have your day available for all packages.

How many images will I get?

I never guarantee an exact amount of images for any wedding, it’s just not possible or fair to do so, it would set an unrealistic expectation for everyone. The amount of images you will receive will depend on how events unfold throughout your day, how animated your wedding will be and how long I am there for. I can give you some rough numbers though so that you have some sort of realistic idea.

Having a traditional wedding? Expect somewhere between 650-800 images.

Having a wedding with a flash mob? First dances with the couple, father, mother? 45-minute ceremony with a harpist interlude and a vocal performance? Yep, you get my point. I have photographed a wedding like this and the couple received over 1000 images.

How long will it take to deliver my images?

I always deliver my previews within 24-hours, that way you can put some announcements out there on socials. If that’s your vibe.

Your full album will take longer to edit, and I try to deliver within 4-weeks. But once again this can also depend on how busy I am and where you are in the editing queue. If I am deep into wedding season and documenting 4 weddings a month, it can take 8-12-weeks before your album is delivered.

What is the booking fee and when is the balance due?

The booking fee is a non-refundable 25% of the overall price of your package with your balance due no later than 30-days before the day of your ceremony. Think you’ll forget to pay? Don’t worry. All invoices are electronic and will send over reminders as and when any payment is due.

Can I setup a payment plan?

Technically, yes. I can change your invoice for payments in periodic schedules. But I only do this on a case-by-case basis as it can become a lot to manage for just little old me.

I want to follow you on social media, where can I find you?

Of course. I am on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Threads. You can get started by clicking the Instagram button below or at the top of this page.

Have I got to deal with paperwork?

Heck no. Gone are the days of printing out tonnes of paper to then fill everything in, then scan it and send it back. Just typing that was long winded.

Everything is electronic nowadays. From your quotation, invoice and contract to your questionnaires. Everything can be done on a smart phone in the palm of your hand as well as a computer or tablet.

Can you give me the RAW Images?

I’m sorry to tell you this so to-the-point, but no. Any photographer worth their salt in this industry does not hand over the RAW files as not only are these are our legal property and copyright protected, but the RAW’s look meh. Alot of work is done in the editing suite to make your images pop in the style you’ve come to me for.

How do you do your thing?

I consider myself a documentary photographer, capturing your day as it plays out so that you can both relive and discover new moments as you journey through your album.

The majority of the day is just like this, me adventuring around you, your family and guests. Searching out these moments. and I think that I am rather good at it.

But there are the inevitable “posed images”. Whether that’s group shots or couples shots. For group shots I have a more traditional method to make things simple and quick, yet effective.

For the couples photo’s I like to get standard portraits first, followed by walking shots to get you both moving and feeling a bit more free. Bring a glass of wine with you if you fancy. Then we take 5-10 minutes grabbing a few static posed shots, but don’t worry, i’m not forcing vogue magazine poses on you. We' will keep this relaxed and natural. Something all my couples are always happy about.

How is my album delivered?

Any images that I deliver to you, including previews, will be via my online gallery provider, Pixieset.

I firmly believe that you are paying for the photographs not only for yourselves to enjoy and look back on, but your friends and family too. For that reason I do not limit downloads or access to your album. Whoever you share your access and download codes with will be able to download images.

What can I do with my images?

All images are for recreational use only.

I know that may sound a little not relaxed, but it has to be said from a legal standpoint.

You may not use the images for any commercial use or enter them into competitions without prior written authorisation.

I hate writing things like that, but its the honest truth.

Can my suppliers use your images?

Please do not share any images with suppliers (including your venue) for commercial use, including social media, print media (magazines), blogs etc.

As photographers we work really hard capturing your memories and it’s always a shame that we don’t get credited, see our images with horrid filters or worse yet, see them being used for commercial gain without permission. It really can open a can of worms from a business perspective as we have to protect our copyright protected work and it can ruin professional relationships that take a long time to build and repair.

I have no problem sharing images with suppliers I will always tag them in my social media posts. But if they would like any images please send them my way so that we can all avoid an awkward situation and things can be done correctly between businesses. Thank you.

I’ve got a Pinterest board, can I send it it you?

I’ve been asked this a lot recently, including Instagram images etc. and my answer is hell yes you can send me that over.

I have my way of doing things. You’ve come to me for my style and the way i like to document and edit. But this is a people business, and I will always listen to what inspires you and go from there. All great creatives have been inspired by something, i let it be you.

That was a romantic line there. Let’s also be pragmatic. I am also a realist. If those images are styled workshops, or taken in the most remotely exquisite place on planet earth whilst you’re being married in a dimly lit community hall (I have nothing against that) then I will remind you that it just isn’t a realistic expectation. A lot of my couples have always been happy with that.

Our wedding is in >insert far away land<. Do you need accommodation/expenses?

Yes please. Any all-day wedding coverage where I will need to travel more than 90-minutes (roughly) before I have to be there will need to have accommodation and reasonable expenses added on top for 2-nights. The night before and the night of your wedding.

I can arrange my own accommodation or you may wish to do it for me. Typically I will use either a Travelodge, a similarly priced alternative, or a reasonably priced Airbnb for your area. If your wedding is outside of the UK then all transport fees and expenses will be accounted for in your invoice. Other expenses would be mileage at the standard 0.45p/pm and food expenses at £15p/meal, £20 for dinners (London/city prices may vary)

How do you conduct yourself on the wedding day?

I pride myself on being pretty relaxed and dare I say it, fun at times.

I love the positive energy just pouring from everybody involved at a wedding and really thrive from it. I understand that I am there to do a job, but the best way I have found to do my job is if everybody is comfortable chatting to me, approaching me to ask for a photo, having a laugh with your mum’s etc.

With the previous background that I have I can easily interact with people of different cultures, races and backgrounds. It comes naturally at this point to be chatting from with a Scot with the thickest of Highlands accent’s one minute and then switch to a South African the next. Nobody is excluded with this photographer.

How long will my digital album be live for?

As with any online storage, there are storage limits. Once that limit is reached I have to delete from the server.

I always make sure your album has been downloaded and that you are notified before i need to delete just in case you haven’t backed up your images.

Expect your album to be live for at least 3-months.

What if I lose my images, what do I do?

I haven’t had this happen yet, but in case you do lose your images I keep everything. I keep the RAW unedited files on a hard drive on my computer and your edited ones on the Cloud.

Once a hard drive is full, i label it, store it and replace it. Everything in safe keeping.

That’s a lot of info, but thanks. I like what I see and like what I hear. What now?

Ok, I’m so glad we’ve gotten to this point. I hate going over the more legal stuff and sounding like a proper bore or that I’ve got a stick lodged somewhere painful. I just have to give you the correct and proper information, or it wouldn’t be right.

So what’s next?

Let’s have a chat. Whether that’s a phone call, a video call, heading down the local coffee shop or an afternoon drink down your local. Let’s start talking. Fill out the contact form below to get in touch and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
